Sound System Sanskriti: Spiritual Bass

The Monkey Sound System India Story, 2022.
A Sonic Street Technologies commission.

The amazing journey of pro-initiator, selekta & radio host who goes by the name Dakta Dub from the multi-ethnic Indian city of Hyderabad. Him along with his Monkey Radio crew are facing a myriad hurdles and odds with a smile, in building the city’s first spiritual sound system, ushering in a local revolution in roots, reggae, dub vibration.

Their moto: “We are big bad beautiful. And we spread the concept of ‘I and I’ through enabling music dance and meditation across a spectrum of economic, social and cultural backgrounds, especially the youth. We catch dem young!”

MANAN - ruminations of a thousand moons

"Mystical afternoons and enchanting twilights of longings & celebrations of a single mother, who looks beyond the mundane & rekindles the magical lore of Moomal - a lovelorn woman of legendary beauty & the queen of Jaisalmer during mid-14th century, India who broke free from traditional norms."

Created during the last few months of lockdown, in moon phases ebbing myriad thoughts - from anxiety to euphoria - of womanhood through yearning wistfulness. Folkloric, lovelorn and haunting manifested through the mystic voices of Barmer manganiyars citing eternal anecdotes of Moomal Rano and voiced by women from across the globe.
Made for PSBT (Public Service Broadcasting Trust, India).

Send It Upwards

Sometime in 2015, with about $3000, a lot of heavy luggage and great ideas, four of my friends set off on a trip. When I first heard about this adventure, I thought it was a bit... ambitious; but also that they were pretty damn lucky. Little did I know, many months later, I would end up editing all that glorious footage captured from their travels!

Along with the trailer came a couple of video features from the mountains and valleys of Leh and Ladakh
